STONEWALL MEET THE AUTHOR SERIES

Ryan Douglass is a queer Black author and poet from Atlanta whose work reshapes the landscape of contemporary horror and speculative fiction. His debut novel, The Taking of Jake Livingston, became a New York Times bestseller and earned multiple national honors for its gripping blend of supernatural suspense and incisive commentary on race, identity, and trauma. Douglass followed with The Great Disillusionment of Nick and Jay, a Harlem Renaissance–infused reimagining of The Great Gatsby that received both Indie Next and Junior Library Guild distinctions.

In addition to his novels, Douglass contributes short fiction to acclaimed queer and Black speculative anthologies and publishes poetry that explores vulnerability, transformation, and the interior lives of marginalized communities. A graduate of Hofstra University with a background in theatre, he brings a performer’s sense of mood and emotional depth to every story he tells.
