About Brian McNaught:

Brian McNaught is a pioneering LGBTQ+ advocate, author, and corporate diversity trainer whose work has shaped inclusion efforts across faith communities and workplaces worldwide.

Named “the godfather of gay diversity training” by The New York Times, Brian McNaught has spent over five decades helping audiences understand the lived experiences of LGBTQ+ people. A former columnist for The Michigan Catholic, Brian came out publicly in 1974—an act that led to his dismissal but ignited a lifelong journey of activism, education, and storytelling.

He went on to found the Detroit chapter of Dignity, a national organization for LGBTQ+ Catholics, and became a certified sexuality educator. His personal experiences as a gay man raised in a devout Irish Catholic family deeply inform his work, which bridges spiritual reflection and social justice.

Brian has authored thirteen books and produced seven educational DVDs on LGBTQ+ issues, many of which are used in schools, churches, corporations, and government agencies. His latest memoir, A Prince of a Boy: How One Gay Catholic Helped Change the World, offers a heartfelt account of resilience, faith, and the power of living authentically.

As a corporate diversity consultant, Brian has spoken to senior leaders across North America, Europe, Asia, and Australia—including at Merrill Lynch, Deutsche Bank, and the U.S. State Department—advocating for inclusive policies and respectful workplace cultures.

Today, Brian continues to inspire new generations through writing, speaking, and mentoring, reminding us that personal truth and compassion can be catalysts for global change.
